Women make up 22/48 of the currently declared elected House of Delegates Democratic delegation. 2 Democratic women and 3 Democratic men are currently stuck in a recount, awaiting to see if they were elected or not.

Simonds is legally entitled to a second recount, and votes are guaranteed to switch with a margin this small, so this election isn’t over, for better or worse.

The funny thing is, Simonds asked Yancey to make a deal where they respect the results of today's drawing, regardless of who won, and Yancey refused. Now a second recount is inevitable, Yancey is probably kicking himself right now for not making the deal.

Democrats took control of the Virginia Senate in 2007 and won 4 more seats in the House of Delegates, so it wouldn’t be at all surprising if the Democrats did even better in 2019 than in 2017.

Wait is Simonds not appealing this? Why would she not appeal / get one more recount?

The lot draw was against her as well as the federal court judge the other day and, the sticking point, the HoD is seated on the 10th: there wouldn't be time for a second recount.

The Republican leadership agreed that she has the legal right to a second recount, so I don’t think there’s anything stopping her from asking for one. She just seems reluctant to drag it out again.
