IFOP seems to have forgotten that the French far-left is led by a bunch of individualistic egomaniacs. They published a poll hypothesizing over a common leftie list (Trots, PCF, and the PG). That list, which will never happen in my lifetime probably, would win 14.5%. The PS would win 22.5% and the Greenies only 7%. The article on LeMonde.fr doesn't talk about the numbers for the UMP, MPF, FN, or MoDem.

Edit: It's an internal poll for the PG, which is still delusional enough to think that a common left front is possible. Lol lefties. Take with a grain of salt.

That's definitely impossible, though I think the PCF and PG are likely to run a common list. What about the LO and NPA? Will they run together again?

I don't know what's the deal with the Trots, but I don't think they'll be running together this time. Besancenot seems opposed to any alliance with anybody.

I thought the whole point of fouding the NPA was to try to federate the far left around him.

Benoît Hamon said that Harlem Désir will likely lead the PS list in Ile-de-France (link). Désir led it in 2004, but Hamon challenged him following the PS elections last fall.

The PS will take the first steps tomorrow towards choosing its candidates. Ouest-France has some information about what's going on in the Nord-Ouest.

Gilles Pargneaux, the first secretary of the Lille federation and an Aubry supporter, will supposedly be the top candidate in the Nord-Ouest. She will be followed by an unnamed woman from Seine-Maritime, incumbent MEP Jean-Louis Cottigny, and Picardie vice president Laurence Rossignol.

Other likely candidates in the Nord-Ouest are Calvados general councilor Clotilde Valter and the Manche federation first secretary Stéphane Travert. Marie-Noëlle Linenmann, an incumbent MEP from Nord-Ouest, may run in another constituency.

According to the article, Henri Weber, who was the top candidate in the Nord-Ouest in 2004, will run in Massif Central–Centre. Vincent Peillon, another MEP from the Nord-Ouest, will run in the Sud-Est.

The PS is having problems in the Sud-Est. Bernard Soulage, who joined the European Parliament for the Sud-Est following Rocard's resignation, has refused to run because he is only ninth on the PS list for the Sud-Est this time around. Thierry Philip, the mayor of the hird arrondissement of Lyon whom Collomb had wanted to lead the Sud-Est list, also refused to run. Eliane Giraud, a regional councilor of Rhône-Alpes and designated suppléant, also refused that position.

Two candidates from the Est also refused their designated positions. Safia Otokoré (vice president of Bourgogne, ninth on the list) disapproves of Filippetti being third on the list. Pierre Pribetich (city councilor of Dijon, sixth on the list) disapproves of Gnoc being second on the list.

And, of course, Peillon considers his designation a "heartbreaker."

Dieudonné will lead an "anti-Zionist" list in Ile-de-France. He claims that the UMP and the PS declared a "cultural war" against him after he publically denied the Holocaust and mocked its victims.

There won't be ANY MRC candidate in these elections (neither on PS lists, nor on Front de Gauche ones, nor on autonomous ones): very surprising for a souverainiste movement.

Wow. So the only party running with the PS will be the PRG?
It is fitting though, when you hear what Chevènement says about the EU; it doesn't really match up with the PS.

the PS is split almost down to 50-50 at times (look at the polling data, re: Voting intentions based on 2005 vote).

2005 was rather a referendum on Chirac, just as 1992 was a referendum on Mitterrand. I'm sure a majority of Socialist voters voted "yes" in 1992, and that a majority of RPR voters voted "no."

The deadline for declaring lists was yesterday (Friday) evening. In total, there are 161 lists in the eight constituencies. The ministry of the interior will publish the final list of candidates on Monday.

The MoDem will be able to air twenty-minute segments reserved for the lists that have the endorsement of a parliamentary group in addition to the two-minute segments reserved for all candidates. The centrist group in the Senate voted on whether to endorse the MoDem, and the final result was an 11-11 tie; the president of the group, an opponent of Bayrou, voted in his favor "in the name of pluralism."
