I have some political disagreements with her, but she's overall a very agreeable and kind poster, and that's kind of rare online, where people are often intentionally mean to get a reaction out of others. First of all , WV swung Democratic from 1960 to 1988 when the rest of the south swung massively Republican so it is not a Dixiecrat state. Furthermore, George Wallace did worse in West Virginia than he did nationally while in every other southern state it was the complete opposite so again your point is false(Also George Wallace did better in Fairfax County than he did in West Virginia as well).

The reason it changed has to do with two issues and that is the democrats have become anti coal which is exactly when they started to trend hard against the Democrats and they are very pro gun too and guns becoming a partisan issue made them trend hard against the Democrats as well.
