Human Rights Campaign Endorses Kirk

I am literally speechless. I guess Bernie was right about the HRC.

They need a token Republican, like how the Tea Party endorsed Walt Minnick (D-ID) in 2010.

Kirk is a strong supporter of equal rights.  Sorry Democrats, you're not the only ones!

Two of them apparently - article notes they endorsed Dold as well.

Duckworth and Schneider may have just lost the election. Nice!

Hey, Wulfirc, between Harris, Zopp, and Duckworth, what do you rank them?

Harris seems okay from what I've heard. Zopp and Duckworth are equally bad.

If Trump or Cruz is on the ballot, they'll both get Blanched, regardless of HRC endorsement.

Rauner has stopped short of endorsing Trump. And looking for alternative doesnt bold well for Kirk or Dold.

I don't follow this. Kirk has been for consideration of Garland from the start. He's now on record in favor of a hearing and a vote.

They arent gonna vote for Garland and confirm him. Anyways, as I said Kirk voted against comprehensive immigration reform and Trump losing the state 2:1 wont be enough to save him from Cook Cnty, not downstate.

Rauner doesnt even endorse Trump.

Is there any Republican Senator left who you think will not get Blanched lol?

Kirk is the only one in the Senate. Feingold will beat Johnson, but it will be only 1-2% more than Clinton's victory.

I bet Kirk would vote to confirm Garland (the Pub Senate leadership will give him a pass, and they don't need his vote to tank Garland, assuming that they really want to, if it looks like the White House is lost), and as Muon2 said, Kirk favors a vote.

As I stated before, Kirk isnt gonna lose on the Senate not confirming Garland. The fact remains, Garland will be kept off bench, period, that alone has upset Illinois, irregardless of Kirk stances.

Kirk also voted in 2007 and 2010 against Immigration Reform, that will cost him Latino votes, too.

This is one of those races where as long as Duckworth keeps her mouth shut and nose clean until November, she probably ousts Kirk.  He needs a perfect environment and campaign to win in IL in a presidential year, and neither exist.

Duckworth is the perfect candidate; just like Ginnoulius attacked Kirk's military record and GOP went after his patriotism, Duckworth's herorism and amputism will self deflect GOP criticism of her. Shes a good, not great  candidate.

I just noticed Human Rights Campaign and Hillary Rodham Clinton have the same initials.

It will be very interesting who the Sun-Times will endorse in IL 10, Duckworth probably gets its endorsement. I think those endorsements matter as well as a Human Rights Interest Group.

If Obama nominated someone black then it would be a much bigger issue for Kirk in IL. I mean if Obama really wanted to motivate people on this he was better off picking a minority pick.
