I think 2016 was probably a fluke, but 2012 was probably not, since the 2014 and 2018 gubernatorial results there were similar to 2012. Under current conditions, Democrats should aim for margins similar to 2012/2014/2018 in Miami Dade (along with the other two Gold Coast counties) in order to be in contention to win statewide.

No, Cubans are willing to support a moderate Democratic party. Unfortunately, Biden got caught up in events that had nothing to do with him. The left's embrace of the squad and its communist slogans (and the Dems not refuting it) more than took care of things for the GOP in Miami.

I suppose cuban americans can support progressives as long as they avoid talking any good about castristas and the castrista regime in Cuba nor anything related. I think democrats may have a chance to avoid more los losses if they primary out the Squad and make people understand that Putin is sort of an ally of castristas. The problem is that cuban americans dominate the GOP in Miami area, so they have incentives to mantain that no matter what.
