That sounds more like a Third World Problem to me.

Correction: I had pretzels to eat, but I didn't feel like eating pretzels.

The word is pretzels.  It comes from a dialectical German variant (prezel) of the word Brezel, which itself evolved from old high German brezitella, which itself came from Medieval Latin Brachitella, meaning a biscuit in the shape of folding arms.  This originally came from the Latin "bracchiatus" meaning "folded arms".

Like a dumbass, I plugged the USB data cable into the USB power cable port on the Blackberry Playbook when I was attempting to transfer some files to a laptop PC.  It flashed then went off.  I have not yet been able to turn it back on.  I took it to GeekSquad at the local Best Buy only to learn that they take customers by appointment.  There was no line in front of me, and several geeks in geeksquad uniforms milling about, apparently with nothing else to do, but the new policy needed to make an appointment.  I'm guessing that this new "by appointment only" policy was developed by suits, and not by geeks.  Geeks will understand that an appointment is superfluous and unnecessary for a two minute dialogue in which I'll say, "hey, here's the playbook, fix it if you can, if not, I'd at least like to recover the files.  Failing that, I'll pay for your time.  No rush.  Call me when it's ready, or when you have decided that it's dead and there's nothing you can do."

Bastards.  I guess I'll cave, because the teenage kid next door who tinkers with electronics looked at it and says it's beyond him, and I looked at some Blackberry kits on-line but I don't have the time or the inclination to try to fix it myself.  Also, I don't see very, very small things so well anymore.  I'll probably go on line and make a 15-minute appointment starting fifteen minutes from now--41 fifteen-minute appointment slots are available for today between now and closing time--and just take it to Best Buy.  What nonsense.
