If it's Kenney I will seriously vote NDP in the next election as a protest, and I never do that. Picking between him and JT would be enough to make anyone sick.

With the Conservatives moving further to the right, and the NDP ditching a centrist leader in favour of the Leap Manifesto, looks like the Natural Governing Party is truly back.

Trudeau is 6 months into his first term. It's a little early to be talking about his second majority guys.

both the Tories and NDP are in a serious rebuilding phase, so barring an absolute meltdown for the Trudeau government, I doubt we will see any other outcome but a Liberal government in 2019.

Keep in mind that the liberals would only have to lose about 1% nationwide in 2019 and their majority is gone

Actually, they never had any majority, assuming a variant of PR is introduced.

If Canadian politics teaches you anything, it's that the results of the previous election have absolutely zero relevance to the next one. Remember how Mulcair tried to remind everyone he only needed 30-ish more seats to remove Harper? Roll Eyes

But it's fair to say that neither the Conservatives nor the NDP will be in any position to form government. The events yesterday only reinforce that.

I'm not sure how you can admit Canadian politics' ridiculous volatility and then be certain that the Liberals will form the next government, especially so early on in the government. There's so much that can happen between now and 2019.

Remember, at this point in George Bush's presidency, people were certain his presidency was going to be all about education reform...

It's one thing to be presumptive, and it's another to recognize the overall situation. It's of course far to early to call the next election, but it isn't unreasonable to comment on the huge advantage the Liberals hold. It means the Liberals must really, really screw up to lose in 2019. Whether, or how, this happens is anyone's guess.

I may want to ask a leadership question in a future EKOS poll. Here's who I would include:

Maxime Bernier
Kellie Leitch
Stephen Harper
Michael Chong
Tony Clement
Doug Ford
Peter MacKay
Kevin O'Leary
Erin O'Toole
Lisa Raitt
Michelle Rempel
Jason Kenney
Brad Wall

Anyone else I should include?

Being serious: Pierre Polievre.  I thought he had been mentioned as a potential candidate several times.   I think he would be a popular choice among the hyper partisans who want a fellow traveler as leader.

Just for fun: Jean Charest.

Strikes me as kind of Jon Huntsmany (i.e. He will be much more popular on the internet than at the ballot box). Still glad to see him in though. CHong is my favourite red.

Chong is about as red as a Tory gets these days.

Which is why he has exactly ZERO chance of winning

Like Mulcair, Kellie Leitch regrets "failure to communicate"

Agree with MacDougall here.

If Kenney runs, doubt he (or Raitt) enters before Labour Day.

Reid is spearheading an effort to draft Ambrose.

"I'm doing this for the children" is the second last refuge of the scoundrel.

At the start of the interview this half wit Leitch brought up the meaningless talking point of 'freedom,' yet somehow 'freedom' doesn't include what people can and can't put into their own bodies.  I can understand restrictions on 'freedom' if it is for a genuine greater public interest, but their is no evidence that making marijuana illegal does anything to prevent the children who she claims are so precious to her from getting it, and nor does it mean that if she is really concerned about 'freedom' that in order to protect society where there is a legitimate threat, that the most restrictive means possible is used.

I find it hard to believe that any system that creates a black market that only makes the head of drug gangs wealthy and that still puts thousands of people in jail which potentially permanently ruins their lives, is the least restrictive option available.

This half wit Leitch also said that the legislation on assisted death is 'convoluted' but couldn't provide a single example of how it is, which leads me to believe that she's just throwing out another meaningless talking point.

Finally, this half wit Leitch also said that 'the government hasn't taken enough of a look at palliative care," but palliative care is a provincial responsibility.

This half wit Leitch shouldn't even be a member of Parliament, yet alone a leader of a major party.
