I was going to say the Eisenhower elections, but since that's more than 50 years ago, I suppose 1984 was the nicest.

84 and 76.. 76 was rather "clean" because Carter ran as a "clean" candidate (against Washington) and that was the post watergate election so people were really concerned about corruption, ethics, lawbreaking etc. As for Ford.. well people were already mad he pardoned Nixon so he couldn't appear to be a corrupt pol.

84 was just a boring, in the bag election, and Reagan was always his "morning in America' self, Mondale was hapless.

It wasn't bad at all........Dole was put up for slaughter by his party, and he was handily slaughtered, albeit cleanly.
