Everyone was saying this missed Bob Dole because he seemed better in comparison to Romney and used this same logic to get all the way back to the insane logic that Ike was some kind of liberal.  This is not to excuse Trump - who's insane - but just commenting on the flaws of this way of thinking.

Probably because the GOP gets more and more insane every election cycle? It wouldn't surprise me if they nominated David Duke in 2020.

Not really the same. With that Ike and Dole stuff, it was romanticizing past politicians, while here it's more like, "Romney was terrible and have no idea how it's possible they found someone worse." If people were praising Romney as some reasonable moderate from  when the GOP used to be sane, that'd be more comparable.

I thought Romney was a RINO and didn't trust him in 2012, but still voted for him over Obama and would over Clinton. He's infinitely preferable to Trump. I will be voting for Clinton. Voted Don't miss him but would vote for him.

Romney was probably the most moderate GOP nominee since Ford

Yes, Mitt Romney is a good man, albeit a mediocre politician, and I'd easily vote for him over Crooked Hillary.

I do not miss him, and I'd probably write-in or not bother.

Definitely miss him compared to the Donald, but would vote for Clinton over him.

No/No

Let's dispel with this "Republicans were so great before Trump" fiction.
