Until last fall, I was getting paper checks.  But then my company transferred me out of town for seven weeks, so it no longer made sense.

I talked to my company's accountant.  At that time, there were only 2 of us employees (out of a company of 170) still receiving paper checks.

I'm still not sure I like direct deposit.  I have my checking account at a bank, but most of my money is at credit unions.  It used to be that I would look at my checkbook every time I got a new paycheck, and I would then decide which institution to deposit it in.  Now, I don't get the constant reminder, so I actually have to pay attention to my (ridiculously-low-interest-bearing) bank balance, in order to know when to transfer funds to better-paying accounts.

You can't make them depose it at the credit union?

I need 80% (or whatever) of my paycheck to go into my checking account, since that's how I pay my monthly bills.  The credit union is just where I place any extra I manage to put away.

I get checks every two weeks, because I'm not working this job long enough for anything else to be reasonable. I wish they would just pay cash, though. It would be great to get an envelope every two weeks filled with twenty hundred-dollar bills.
You're netting 2k every two weeks on a summer internship? That's very impressive.

This is why class warfare works on me.

I mean... congratulations for your success.

(Boy, that's hard. Tongue)

Yeah, I'm impressed.  I have an occupation requiring a college degree, I've been in the professional workforce nearly 20 years, and I don't think I clear that much, once you deduct taxes.
