Just remember that if Ukraine attacks Moscow or any Russian city, even legitimate targets, that will silence the protesters and mark them as traitors. Then they'll have their "rally around the flag" effect.

I have a hard time believing some of these statements from Ukraine. They come across more like something said that is wildly untrue in some of its particulars, and said to boost morale at what might be a trying time for Ukrainian morale, than something actually true. Fog of war, and assymetrical warfare, are for sure being used by both sides for their own purposes.

Russia engaged in hacking? Ukraine (and pro-Ukrainian groups) can engage in hacking.
Russia can engage in assymetric fighting? Ukraine can engage in assymetric fighting.

I'm also hoping that reporting on the Ukranian Ace from earlier today who supposedly has shot down 6 russian fighter jets so far is true. The ghost of Kyiv they're calling him. I think with an aging jet too.....imagine what this guy could've done with an F-35. There would be no more Russian air force.

There's been Russian incursion into Kyiv, although so far just two trucks (which were in turn captured from the Ukrainian military) have been confirmed.

Unlike many recent wars like Syria or other Eastern Euro wars

This isnt a hard concept

I think you overstate how common "exterminate the population" wars are in general.
What Putin has said in the weeks leading up to this is proof enough you are correct on narrow grounds - i.e. intention isn't to kill, only to take and then do whatever - but one has to admit that Russian tactics do tend to result in higher than normal civilian casualties.
