Which World Series was better? The 2001 World Series in which the underdog National League champion Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the three-time defending World Series champions New York Yankees 4 games to 3, in which denied the Yankees of a fourth consecutive championship in five years, weeks after the 9/11 attacks that devastated NYC, or the 2011 World Series in which the underdog National League champion St. Louis Cardinals defeated the back-to-back American League champion Texas Rangers in which the Rangers were heavily favored to easily beat the wild card Cardinals, but the epic games 6 and 7 cost them the opportunity?

2001, specifically because the Yankees lost.

Had the Yankees won their fourth consecutive championship in 2001 it would have healed NYC after 9/11. Derek Jeter and the rest of the Yankees Core would have had 6 rings (1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2009).

2001. It was the last time the Mystique and Aura of Yankee Stadium came out to play. We don't have that in the new stadium.

The Cardinals fan in me says the 2011 World Series. Game 6 alone tips it towards that WS.

As for the 2001 World Series: The proud Yankees hater in me was so glad the Yankees lost to the D-Backs.

If we're comparing WS from years ending in 1, my money is on 1991. Both the Twins and Braves were last place teams in their divisions in 1990, four games were decided in the final at bat, three went into extra innings, and game 7 was 0-0 after nine innings and Twins starter Jack Morris went all 10 innings (against the wishes of the manager) on 126 pitches for a 1-0 win.

2011, in all honesty.

2016 was the greatest of all time though. Not up for debate. 2014 was epic too

2001. Schilling should be in the Hall of Fame.

2001. Watching the seemingly invincible Yankees go down was a major formative experience of my youth.

Neither, I chose 2004 and 2016.

2004 because it ended the World Series drought of the Red Sox (my favorite team), 2016 because the Cubs won the same year my grandfather, who happened to be a huge Cubs fan, passed away, and I considered the team winning to be the greatest tribute to him.

Honorable mention to 2013 though, Boston came out strong in light of the bombing of the same year.
