Not surprising that Fetterman is ducking the debate.

Big news here, Fetterman will NOT attend the first senate debate

Can someone call me “a liar, a liberal, and a coward” so I can put it in my signature? What an epithet.

Oz's campaign is really passive-aggressive. This whole debate thing has really become a meme for them. Oz should be happy Fetterman isn't debating him yet, he would get his ass handed to him.

If you're trying to get people to vote for them both simultaneously, this doesn't even matter.

I still really would like to know who decided these dates anyway. Did the media outlets go to the campaigns with proposed dates? Fetterman didn't "pull out" when this date was never even agreed on. Reason I ask is because Oz claims there is 5 debates scheduled and no senate campaign has ever done that many (there were 2 in 2018), so I think it's almost like different media outlets probably *proposed* possible debates to see if anyone would agree to them.

They still can't help themselves!

What even is this? You can tell this campaign is constantly flailing b/c this is not the work of a winning campaign.

Just embarrassing stuff. Not only are they begging Fetterman to notice him, they're making fun of his stroke.

LMAO Oz and his campaign really played themselves with this entire thing. They really sabotaged him with that 'debate demand' list and now Fetterman can basically say I'm not going to debate you until you actually take this seriously

Just another total own goal by the oz campaign

What a lame excuse for not debating

Honestly, agreed.

Oz is going to get the big boost out of this. The Headlines will be "Fetterman Ducking Debates", and no one who isn't on Atlas will care about the details. Three months from now, we will look back on this as the moment when Oz turned the race around. And this seat could literally decide the senate.

Erm, ok, I know the average American swing voter is an idiot, but I don’t think anyone ever thinks “I was going to vote for Fetterman, but he won’t debate, so I’ll now be voting for Oz.”

Am I still a corporatist neoliberal traitor for expressing concern that Fetterman's stroke will handicap him on the campaign trail?

I wouldn't call you that, but I still don't see why it would handicap him.

Are you sure about that.

There are plenty of 2x Trump voters who say they like Fetterman based on style and populism who won’t like somebody looking like he is running. Remember that Fetterman has been getting a not-insignificant portion or Trump voters in the polls.

I agree with you that Dems won’t care whether Fetterman shows up to any debates at all. But I highly doubt that swing voters and former Trump voters won’t notice.

« Edited: August 31, 2022, 04:09:36 AM by MAGA Maggie's Masshole Wall »

It's funny how the only groups "concerned" about Fetterman skipping the debate are Oz supporters and MAGAcrats trying to overturn the primary for Lamb.

This is the type of stuff that I mean when I say "blue MAGA". It's all party unity and vote blue no matter who until a progressive gets elected. Then the knives come out, and they institute the purity tests that they pretend to be above. They don't see Fetterman's stroke as a tragedy. They see it as an opportunity to do their own January 6th and install their preferred candidate.

Frankly,

He has too many health problems to be a competent senator. I fail to see how this is controversial at all.

The controversy is that the entire Democratic "concerns" about his health, online and offline, just so happen to be from the supporters of the likely next candidate in line.

Wolf isn't a Washington guy and would probably decline the nomination regardless. Through an unbiased view, if Fetterman for whatever reason won't be able to accept the seat, the PADP will select Conor Lamb. Literally every single Democrat who has expressed these concerns backed Lamb in the primary.

This entire schtick from people to act like stroke survivors can't eventually get a job and be a productive member of society is completely gross. Not just that, but still recovering with some auditory and speaking issues does not make you "incompetent" in the slightest.

Honestly, I wouldn't imagine that most stroke survivors would be out doing this much even just 3 months afterwards, so I'd also give him a lot of credit for that.
