Portugal was its usual: A disappointing showing but enough to scrape by and win.

Portugal and Ghana were both lucky to win. But that's tournament football - sometimes it's about sh**tting your way through the tournament, which Portugal are experts at.

That and being able to avoid the toughest teams until the end. Wink

The most infuriating thing about the match was commentators trying to force us to believe that Cristiano actually scored.

The Portugal-Uruguay match had a TV audience of 5,6 million viewers, 54.1% of the Portuguese population, one of highest audiences ever:

Quote
Portugal, who beat Uruguay 2-0 in their second game of the World Cup in Qatar, secured qualification for the round of 16 without having to go with the usual calculator for the last game against South Korea. A very disputed game with a lot of aggression, sometimes in excess, but which ended up smiling for Portugal with the goals appearing in the second half, both by Bruno Fernandes. The game was broadcast on RTP1 and was seen by a total of 5.3 million viewers, corresponding to an average audience of 3.6 million and a share of 66%. On Sport TV, the game was watched by a total of 296 thousand viewers, with an average audience of 188 thousand and a 3.5% share.

In cumulative terms (RTP1 and Sport TV), the Portugal x Uruguay match reached a total audience of 5.6 million viewers, corresponding to an average of 3.8 million viewers and a 69.5% share.

That was one of the most dreadful set of penalties I've ever seen.

Well, pace yourself because tomorrow there could be more. Wink

Loved this match!! Portugal is much better without Ronaldo playing. Also, karma is a b***h as the player who substituted him, Gonçalo Ramos, scored 3 times, a hat-trick.

On one hand, I don't want Portugal to win because it'll make Ronaldo a god, but on the other hand I want them to win so he'll retire on the spot and go away... When Leāo scored the last goal, you could see all the Portugal players looking happy and running to congratulate him, while Ronaldo just walked with little expression on his face.

He's being completely trashed by the media around here, because of his attitude. Specially the one today in which he left the field while the rest of the team was celebrating. Many accuse him of becoming a factor of distability in the team and no longer an asset, and for wanting all the attention and the spotlights on him, rather on the team and his teammates.

Dear God. I was rooting for Brazil, but they basically made no effort. Congrats to Croatia.

Not sure if Portugal went to play or to have a guided tour of the Stadium. Roll Eyes Really bad, very slow, very still, a complete disappointment.

Have been dragged to my Student Union bar. Introduced to a number of Portuguese curses over the past hour. Going to stick around for the abject chaos that is watching an England vs France game, in deepest Yorkshire, in a tiny subterranean pub, surrounded by 200 drunk students.

Our language is quite rich in terms of cursing. Wink

Ok, bye guys, going out to celebrate, getting sh*tfaced tonight. Toughts and prayers

Go and celebrate my friend!! But, not too much because there are more celebrations in the next few days. Cheesy Wink

Also, will Argentina's team, on their way back, stop by the Vatican to show the cup to Pope Francis? That would be awesome. Smiley
