CA-31 situation possible but considering the partisan spread I find it very doubtful; CA-33 type situation (independent does well against Democrat in solid Dem district) also possible but also doubtful. Both DKE and RRH seem to reckon state Senator Mark deSoulnier (who has, in fact, already announced) is the frontrunner. Obviously, deSoulnier is a Democrat.
