It's so amazing that Oz has so many dirty skeletons in the closet that I somehow forgot about his hydroxycholoroquine obsession

Oz's medical quackery has been sitting out here as low-hanging fruit for a while, hope to see more of a focus on it going forward.

Yesterday: Fetterman was fat and thus deserved his stroke

Today: I'm PA's doctor! I'll heal all of you Smiley

I am as far from an Oz supporter as one can get, but the obesity crisis in America has reached disgustingly high levels. Doctors should not be afraid to tell their patients they're overweight, though many are scared to now because of the kindness over facts cult that has infested much of academia.

With that being said, Fetterman has lost like 150 so this just makes Oz look like an even bigger douche.

This isn’t glandular… this is just fat

How many fat studies books have you actually read? Or did you just hear some propaganda piece on Fox News about "healthy at every size" (which is ironic bc Fox News viewers have much higher BMI than other network viewers) and then decide academia is "out of touch" based upon that.

I work with people who study this issue, and while I certainly disagree with them that you can be "healthy at any size," they have through peer-reviewed research often passed through hands belonging to someone as skeptical as you, proven that: 1. fat people receive subpar medical care because of stigma; 2. fat kids are bullied because of stigma; 3. bullying and chastisement worsen the obesity epidemic because it makes fat people depressed and anxious. And what they propose isn't radical or even particularly socialist - just treat people fairly even if they are fat. What is wrong with that? What is "unfactual" about any of what I just said, which is the basis of fat studies pretty much?

It just annoys me bc--listen I dk you so I'm sorry if this sounds ranty--but I do know my colleagues and they aren't the ones fighting the culture war, it's you. If you want to rebut research with research that's fine, but don't misrepresent the research for the sake of a culture war that just needs to end already. I dgaf what people put in their mouths - hot dogs, sexual organs, drugs. It is none of my business, and hardly the basis of anybody's politics. And the more we argue about dumb s*** like that, the further we get from solutions to real problems

As you indicate, being "overweight" doesn't inherently mean unhealthy. A healthy weight will look different for each person. However, on social media there def is a romanticization of people who are extremely over or under weight that isn't healthy because it can actually manipulate vulnerable folks, especially kids, to feel like they need to reach that size.

Another problem is with young men and the romanticization of huge muscles. Being jacked itself doesn't cause health issues, but it doesn't on it's own make you healthy either, plus steroids can screw you up later in life.

Generally speaking, we need to educate people about some of the health complications of being over and underweight better.

Weight is easy cause it's a clear number someone can read when they stand on a scale. Overall health is much harder to measure but we need to try and create a culture of generally being healthier (less fast food porn and sitting on computer all day) and for most people, being healthier will put them at an appropriate weight.

Are they like 'yeah, he'll probably lose' (2020 AZ-SEN) or are they like 'okay Oz is probably f@cked let's redirect funding' (2020 CO-SEN)

Somewhere in between, but closer to the latter. They think that he has a chance, but he's likely pissed away a seat that really should have been a Republican hold.

Does anyone think the Oz campaign will turn things around as far as campaigning goes or are they set in their ways?

Dems no longer know how to appeal to rural America and this ad only amplifies it. Painting a TV show doctor celebrity born in Ohio as a Turkish radical is just hilarious. These strategists people think it's 2002 and rural voters are going to vote against someone because he is a Muslim. Anyway, Turkey is a member of NATO, and is actually doing more to help Ukraine than the US is lol.

Oz's recent comments about Fetterman's health have just gone too far for me. I went from backing Oz to undecided and now leaning Fetterman. At least Fetterman seems common sensical and is a populist despite my reticence toward some of his stances like gun control, abortion, and fracking.

Oz's campaign has become incompetent and an absolute dumpster fire. He looks insincere, out of touch, and insensitive now. There's no way you're coming back from that unless you start reaching out to moderates.

Welcome aboard!

Glad to have you on the team.

With less than one month until mail ballots go out, Oz's team is now going full-negative

I don't think it's right to go after him for being Muslim, but uh, you're anger should probably be misdirected at the GOP since that was a major hit on him during the *GOP* primary.

I could see a number of people in Pennsyltucky going to vote straight R, seeing "Mehmet" and voting for Fetterman. Not a lot, mind you, a thousand or so tops.

Tasteless attacks on your opponent's health will almost certainly backfire. Many people either have such health issues themselves or closely know someone who does. I don't think any of them would find this appropriate, let alone change their vote as a result. The opposite is much more likely, imho. Just looks like Oz is digging deeper and deeper into that hole he got himself by running a horrible campaign.

Really speaks volumes about the desperation within the Oz campaign. If that is all they got to counter, you know it's not going well at all.

it also hurts the #1 asset Oz has, being known for being a "medical professional" (even if there's plenty of evidence to the contrary).

It honestly feels like Oz's team is pretending this is a game of New Campaign Trail and they pick the answers that hurt you the most.

This. The Miscalculation of Oz and his team is that somehow people are going to be ... upset with Fetterman that he's still recovering? The average person could have any type of issue with Fetterman policy wise, but hitting him on his recovery from a health incident is just gross. Let alone that, but acting as if recovering from a stroke = brain dead or something is even worse. On top of that, like you said, this all coming from a "doctor" just kinda reinforces the narrative that Oz is simply shameless and will do or say whatever he (thinks he) needs to win.

Idk about you wbrocks (or my other PA peeps), but I've seen a LOT more Oz-attack ads (as in attack ads on Fetterman).

They're nothing remarkable (John Fetterman will increase your taxes, John Fetterman will release dangerous criminals from prison, John Fetterman support sanctuary cities and illegal immigration, etc.)., but they're definitely appearing with greater frequency than ever before.  I was seeing an average of two ads during each commercial break while watching Jeopardy the other night.
