Can’t wait for the results to come in.

Armin „gaffe“ Laschet made another blunder today by folding his ballot paper incorrectly, showing everyone that he voted 2x CDU.

Hahaha.

I think participation will reach 80% this time.

But there are fewer eligible voters than last time (60.4 million) vs. 61.7 in 2017.

Many old people died, much fewer young voters reached voting age.

My guess:

29% SPD
24% Union
17% Grüne
12% FDP
  9% AfD
  6% Linke

Fun fact:

Anna-Lena Baerbock (Greens) once attended a Florida high school for a year as an exchange student.

She is a fluent American-English speaker.

Brandenburg results, for those interested.

In Potsdam, Scholz + Baerbock are running in the same district (Scholz is winning easily).

Both are carpetbaggers though, coming from Lower Saxony originally.

According to the district results, the SPD looses votes in Lower Bavaria

It’s the Rio Grande Valley all over again.

What’s next ?

Söder and the CSU banning abortion in Bayern ?

Huh

The Democrats lost votes there last year to Trump.

It’s also a joke.

The only real Rio Grande comparison that may be made is the SPD's seeming decline in Munich?

Bavarians and Upper Austrians don’t like the SPDÖs for some kind of reason.

Scholz gains a lot more elsewhere, like in the East.

SPD+Greens+FDP (government of winners & my preferred coalition) would get 57% of seats and achieved 52% of the vote.

The Bundeswahlleiter says that 61.2 million people were eligible to vote yesterday after all.

Previously, they estimated only 60.4 million eligible.

The 61.2 million is still down from 61.7 million in 2017, because more old people died than new younger voters and naturalized foreigners being added.

Turnout was 76.6% (+0.4%) and highest in Bayern with 79.8% (I guess).

The share of women in the new Bundestag will increase, but will remain the lowest in the D-A-CH region.

34.7% of the 735 new (old) representatives will be women, up from 31%.

In Austria, it’s 40.4% of 183 representatives.

In Switzerland, it’s 42.0% of 200 representatives and therefore the highest.

I don't normally bother with this one, but there was more going on than normal, so here it is.

Always a pleasure to see these cool maps.

AfD still doing unsurprisingly well in meth country.
