Uggh wish the judge would rule on contempt from the bench now without a scheduled hearing later in the week. He's got everything there.

They’re apparently holding a Sandoval hearing. If the judge rules they can’t bring in prior bad acts, will they basically have to exclude Trump’s entire life?

So that juror list is definitely going to be leaked, right? Those jurors are going to face a lifetime of threats and harassment from the Trump cultists...

Apparently already over so seems moot now with priors being presumably kosher ground if Trump does actually testify.

If Trump's legal team disobeys the court order to not allow juror names to be publicly revealed, Merchan is gonna revoke his conditions-of-release immediately & impose sanctions on the attorneys too, book it.

According to news reports, over half of the jury pool has already been dismissed on the impartiality question, when 40% was the expected number . This case might die on appeal

one of the biggest lib propagandists says Trump is sleeping, and people take her word as true

lol Maggie plz

Calling Maggie Habberman a liberal propagandist is genuinely insane

It's also ungrateful. Good ol' Maggie was one of Trump's most dutiful stenographers when he was president. She even sat on unflattering information about him with the excuse of wanting to use that information for her book.

The Don must eventually turn on all:

Forgive me for not knowing, but what happens if they aren't able to seat 12 qualified jurors? With the amount that's already been dismissed, that's not out of the question? Do they have to summon a new pool? I know there have been lots of talks of a venue change, would that warrant one?

Only someone dumb, with high-level grifting ambitions, or more likely both would want to be anywhere near the jury for this trial. The only way they can profit is by doxing themselves and being politically engaged in almost any way makes you partial.

The appeal is likely not to be based on bias, but some of the weird sh**t which is going to occur in the jury deliberations given the low-quality pool of whoever isn't eliminated. Non-zero chance we have people claiming Alters or dead people told them how to vote. If there is a bias issue, it will be that dumb people lied about being uninformed to get on the jury(and odds are we will lose a couple from that and from signing book deals mid-trial).

The jury pool is 500-people large. It was the first panel of 96 from which over half thereof was dismissed. Today is Day 1 of a jury-selection process that's expected to take at least 2 weeks.

Forgive me for not knowing, but what happens if they aren't able to seat 12 qualified jurors? With the amount that's already been dismissed, that's not out of the question? Do they have to summon a new pool? I know there have been lots of talks of a venue change, would that warrant one?

If they can't seat a qualified panel of 12+6 alternates with the first pool of 500, then a second pool will be summoned & the process will continue 'til a panel has been seated. This isn't the first high-profile trial that NYC has ever faced. He already lost on venue change before the trial; at this point, unfair venue would be a point to bring up on post-trial appeal.

What does this mean?  Why is 40% the "expected" number?

No way in Hell I would ever be a juror in this case. We saw how MAGA cultists ruined the lives of those poll workers who just did their jobs. Imagine what they'll do to people who convict Trump...

In some ways, it would be surprising if they get a single juror off of the original 96 for this sort of trial so I don't think it is particularly significant.

It is lose/lose

No clue how long this will last, you will face retaliation if you acquit or convict, and you have to expose yourself to profit from the notoriety. The only people who would want to do it are going to be docked for being blatantly partial.

All that matters is if the final 12 (and alternates) say that can be fair and impartial.

In the Young Thug trial here in Atlanta, jury selection took almost 10 months.

This is why I think the odds this comes down a plea agreement is very high. Like 65%. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Trump have to be there everyday during jury selection? Based on what I've seen, he looks miserable, no way he can take 2 months of this, let alone 10. I think he'll try and plea to a misdemeanor count of falsifying business records. Good change Bragg will accept an agreement because if the trial goes forward and Trump is either acquitted or case is overturned on appeal, that would be the end of Bragg's career. With this, he can still hang his hat on a conviction, even if it's not a felony.
