I'm going to say no, and I can say this with the authority of someone who has had to write ~100 pages worth of essays in standard British English as an American.

It is interesting for me to listen to the Brit accent Americanize over the course of my lifetime. Now if only the Jersey accent could do the same. Man, I could hardly understand this handsome Italian looking guy at the Union City pool today.

Can't wait to see the gabbergoul on sale at the deli.
