Let's be real though; in order for this suppression effort to be successful, the election would have to narrow a bit and they would need to affect Democratic ballots at a far higher rate than Republican ballots. We should obviously be concerned, but the concern trolling that this will swing the election 10 points in Trump's favor is kinda BS

This will automatically happen by virtue of the large partisan gap between voting in-person and voting by mail

First, we are facing an “election season,” not an “Election Day.” Given that there will be unprecedented numbers of provisional, absentee, and mail-in ballots, many of which may take days to be counted, it is very possible we will not know the results of the election on the evening of November 3rd. What’s more, in many parts of the country, these so-called overtime votes will break disproportionately towards the Democrats, a process referred to as the “Blue Shift.”What this means is that it’s very possible that Trump could be leading on Election Night but would see that lead evaporate as the overtime votes are counted. This is precisely why Trump himself recently declared that he wants the results called on Election Night—i.e. before the Democratic-leaning late votes can be counted.

This longish period for vote counting opens up opportunities to manipulate the process and to sow doubt and confusion about the election results. In our scenario exercises, Team Trump attempted to claim that the late votes were fraudulent, and in one case tried to have the Department of Justice work with the Post Office to seize mailed in ballots to prevent them from being counted. In other cases, election officials were doxxed in order to intimidate them from going to work, and “second amendment types” showed up at vote counting sites to try to prevent late votes from being counted.

Harris County voters this November will have more time and more than a hundred additional places to cast ballots in the presidential election, including drive-through locations and one day of 24-hour voting, under an expansive plan approved by Commissioners Court Tuesday.

With the additional polling locations, an extra week of early voting and up to 12,000 election workers, Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins is pledging a smooth November election.

In previous elections, Harris County operated about 40 early voting and 750 Election Day sites. The additional funding, Hollins said, will allow the county to operate 120 early voting and 808 Election Day locations.

Securing funding for polling locations and staff is one obstacle; finding sites to host them is another. Hollins said the county caught a break when Houston Independent School District decided to hold classes virtually, allowing the clerk’s office to reserve classrooms and gymnasiums.

The clerk’s office plans to open a massive voting center at NRG Arena, and also will move its vote-counting headquarters there. Hollins said the Toyota Center also has volunteered its cavernous facility for voting, a well-known location he hoped would prove popular.
