I know it’s done in bad faith but how come the “let the people decide” crowd never address the elephant in the room that “the people” can find him guilty but he still can win a second term? Ie like how he did the first time

So they are once again pushing the lie that Ukraine interfered in 2016. They have no shame and think very little of the public’s intelligence

https://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/ukraine-sabotage-trump-backfire-233446
Ukrainian efforts to sabotage Trump backfire
Kiev officials are scrambling to make amends with the president-elect after quietly working to boost Clinton.
Quote
Ukrainian government officials tried to help Hillary Clinton and undermine Trump by publicly questioning his fitness for office. They also disseminated documents implicating a top Trump aide in corruption and suggested they were investigating the matter, only to back away after the election. And they helped Clinton’s allies research damaging information on Trump and his advisers, a Politico investigation found.

A Ukrainian-American operative who was consulting for the Democratic National Committee met with top officials in the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington in an effort to expose ties between Trump, top campaign aide Paul Manafort and Russia, according to people with direct knowledge of the situation.

The Ukrainian efforts had an impact in the race, helping to force Manafort’s resignation and advancing the narrative that Trump’s campaign was deeply connected to Ukraine’s foe to the east, Russia. But they were far less concerted or centrally directed than Russia’s alleged hacking and dissemination of Democratic emails.

How could you have missed it?

Right, you get all the information from Adam Schiff. I hope that he is gonna show us the smoking gun he was talking about since 2017. Hopefully before election hahahaha!

Yes, potentially Manchin and Sinema.

Cippolone is doing a fantastic job presenting their case. He got even props from Senate Democrats.

Serious question: What will the Democrats run on in 2020 once Trump is acquitted? All their political capital has been used on impeachment.

They will run on Health Care cuz that's how they won the Midterms and possibly Immigration.

Trump however will like go around the Country and talk to Voters about the Economy. We might get a Preview of that in his State of the Union Address.

If the United States elects a Democrat in November that's going to hurt the Country economically as Biden will put Regulations back in place, Small Businesses will struggle again, etc.
The biggest cluster Democrats did was that Dodd-Frank crappola which hurt the Job Growth.
Trump has a 55-57 JA on the Economy.

Yes, that's what the fact check says, but it's the Republican feelings check that matters here.

Amazing how much more attentive and alert Republican senators are when Trump's defense team make their case...

Think it’s pretty clear there will be a couple Dem Senators will vote to acquit. This is all such a disaster for them.

At this point I don't see that happening at all

At the start of all of this I use to think they could get manchin but now I don't see even him voting with them. it will be years before he has to faces voters again so I don't see him under any real pressure to vote to acquit trump. some on here have said Kyrsten Sinema could be the one but if joe manchin votes to impeach I don't see Sinema  being the lone dem who votes no.

you would think GOP would been getting Doug Jones support since he is a red state Dem but So for  Doug jones seem to be 100 percent behind his party and supports their call for more witness.

To be blunt the GOP has failed to convince the american people of trump's innocents and because of that there is very little reason for a dem senator to crossover and vote with the GOP. plus many of the Dems that would voted for this have either already been defeated in 2018 or will not face voters again for a while( doug jones is an exception but as I pointed out the GOP has already failed to win him over so far.

Had GOP put up a better defense of Trump they could have had a lot of Dems under to pressure to let trump off the hook but as it stands the Dems has won in the court of public opinion and this vote will now be a lot tougher on swing state republicans than it will be for matchin or Jones.

maybe they can get 1 but it would not shock me at all if the got 0 with at least 1 republican voting with them

The reason for stretching this sham of a case to a bore of the full 24 hours was done in the hope that Trump would go into meltdown mode and embarrass and incriminate himself further over those 3 days.

Nope.

Instead, Trump has become further presidential. Lol

Correct:

Collins YES
Romney YES
Murkowski NO
Alexander NO

It will come down to these four Senators and Democrats need them ALL to make this work.

Sinema is not going to lose in 5 years because she voted to impeach. If she loses, it will be due to other issues. For Manchin it's a little more dicey but it sounds like it might be his last term anyway, because he's fed up with politics. So I don't see them voting to acquit. Jones is in a lot of danger, especially if Sessions is the nominee, and particularly if he votes to impeach. He might do it anyway though since he is a principled person.

Serious question: What will the Democrats run on in 2020 once Trump is acquitted? All their political capital has been used on impeachment.

And the Republicans have squandered theirs defending the Crook-in-Chief. That said, it's good this'll be out of the way by general election time.

If nothing else, the Parnas recording shreds Trump's claim he didn't know Parnas. Not that it was particularly credible anyway since they're in several pictures together.

They will be running against Trump corruption, the costly and destructive trade war, and on the 'fix'.
