Question: Did you get the day off school?
#1
Hell yes, and I'm gonna build a snowman and have a snowball fight.

#2
No.  Easterners are wimps.  You get a few inches of snow and everything closes.  I'm from the Midwest and I walk two miles to school every day in the snow.

#3
Snow?  Sick, dude.  Like, we're more into the herb, but that sounds chill.

Everybody has a snow day today!  My son's school is closed, as is my university and my wife's college.  Looks nasty outside.  A few inches of snow on top of a thin layer of ice.  We'll stay in and watch movies and play ping pong till it slacks off, then I'll go out and dig.  Maybe we'll walk to the gym and do some swimming in the pool, if they're open today.

When you were in Iowa a few inches of snow on top of a thin layer of ice wouldn't slow people down on the roadway much less cancel school.

You live in Wimp Nation now.  Wink  Enjoy your day off.

No school again today.  I think this makes six for my son.  If I've done the math right, he'll now be in school till Thursday June 12.

Today is our sixth day of no school at westside.  We will have to go until June 3rd now.

They did.  Puts a little monkey wrench in my plans, which is frustrating, but I get paid the same either way, and we don't have to have make-up days, so I'm not complaining too much.

We went to the gym for a couple of hours when the electricity was out.  Also, we had lunch at the all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet not far from here.  I'm stuffed.  When we returned the power had been restored so I had to reset lots of clocks.

Lots of trees down.  This storm was mostly ice, not snow.  Probably the snow day was actually merited this time.  Not much you can do with no electricity, and the driving was a bit dicey.

Yeah we had 4+" today with an icy coating to it.....rough driving.  All schools here 2 hour delay and all colleges open.  But the lay of the land is quite different here.

We must have got close to a foot here today. There are also rumors flying around about some kind of mega-blizzard hitting us Sunday (not sure how much truth there is to that though).

Two-hour delay today for the elementary schools.  Seems unnecessary.

We have a two hour delay today. Looking at the forecasts, I probably won't have school on Wednesday or Thursday, and we might get off tomorrow or Friday also.

We got another inch or two of powdery snow last night, but no delays or cancellations here.  I did notice that the garbage and recycling bin weren't picked up when I went out.  They're usually doing that long before I awaken.  Maybe the refuse company got a snow day.

Depending on the track of the storm (especially if it shifts further east) we along the I-95 corridor could be seeing as much as -if not more than- a foot of snow.

Which would likely melt quickly in the following days afterward.

Probably.  Not terribly cold, but snowy.  Here's the weather.com forecast for 17601:

That's what we're getting here right now.  Noisy, but at least the microhail isn't as bad as freezing rain could be.

Recent projections have my area getting around a foot of snow.

Still sleeting lightly and it's expected to continue until tomorrow morning, but I just went out and did some removal simply to try and keep ahead of it rather than waiting for it to finish.  Got half of my path to the car done before I decided to head back in to let my hands warm up as I don't have any gloves.

They cancelled classes here and I don't even think it is sleeting. I am getting sick of makeup classes.

You go the OKC school district too, Dukey?

According to the current radar map, while Charleston itself is getting rain, just a little bit inland the frozen precipitation is falling.  So any commuter students would find it tough sledding getting to classes today and then back home.  Now if we were back in the days when all college students were expected to live on campus, Duke would likely be having class, that isn't the case any more.
