Reminds me of that time that our good old Dear Leader Kim Jong Il shot 38 under par, with five holes in one, on his first attempt at golf.

     You think that the incident was staged to make Putin look good? I wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.

I find it a likely scenario. It seems odd that Putin would be carrying a tranquilizer gun himself rather than the pros and guards around him.

well he IS ex-KGB. That probably qualifies him as a pro with most types of weaponry

I'm sure he knows how to fire a gun, but why was he carrying a rifle full of tranquilizer in the first place? It just seems like an odd coincidence. Typically the ones carrying rifles are the ones doing the bodyguarding, not the one being guarded.
