     It is not as if California is the only place that has crime, but it is a place where the authorities have little interest in bringing the criminals to justice. Not just in the form of declining to prosecute misdemeanors, but also in terms of reducing funding to already badly underfunded police departments. As an example, the City of Berkeley has had deep funding issues for years, and in an age when it was not required for people on the left to hate cops this was an issue that folks talked about it Now not only is it not talked about, but the Berkeley City Council even cut police funding an additional 14%.

     Stuff like this is rapidly being normalized, and we will only see and hear more of it as time goes on. At least until people have had their fill and the pendulum swings back in the other direction.
