The last 6-7 minutes of that game truly felt like a parody of football where someone wanted to see what would happen if both teams did the most stupid thing possible.

#3 Georgia at Vanderbilt ... gonna be in Nashville, wish I could go!

Coming from a Vandy fan, alum, and season ticket holder (who will be at the game Saturday night), you aren't missing that much by not going.  Vanderbilt Stadium (or "The Dud") is not a particularly nice stadium, and it is likely to be full of red.  We haven't had a sell-out that was mostly Vandy fans since the 2017 K-State game.  It would (unfortunately) feel like a subpar version of going to a game in Athens with all of the UGA fans who will be there.  Fortunately, our new AD seems to understand the stadium problem and I'm confident he will work towards a solution.  The team winning will be a good start (since we did get good, loud, Vandy partisan, crowds during the James Franklin years).

What might be fun for you would be attending SEC Nation, the SEC Network's version of College Gameday, which will be on campus at 9 AM CT.  I've been other times it has been to Vanderbilt, and it's always a pretty fun time, usually with some tailgate-style games and some people giving away free food/Dr. Pepper samples.

I don't know how to feel about that crazy finish last night (other than anger at myself for going to bed) because Vandy plays Purdue next week.  Either they will come out angry and on a mission or they might just not be that great.  We'll see next week.

Laughing at UT united the Vandy and Georgia fans at the game tonight!  I'm usually all about cheering for our SEC compatriots, but Tennessee losing to Georgia State is an exception!  So funny!!

Wake wins 24-18.  UNC had the ball and was driving at the end, but they just ran out of time.

Well, they had one second left that never got reviewed.

No, they didn't. He didn't get out of bounds. This is not how football timing works. I was screaming at the television when the announcers were making their foolish interpretations.

How is that different from when Saban got one second added back right before the Kick Six?

Wow. American Conference football between two teams that may not see a bowl this year* is such a treat on a Thursday night. Who would've guessed?

*Yes, Tulane will probably beat one or both of the service academies to get a bowl bid, but I am holding out hope.

That finish was absolute insanity

I know Vandy won today, but we looked awful and have looked awful all season.  It was also the worst crowd I've seen for a Vandy home game, even during some rough years.  Factoring this all in, I think it's time for us to move on from Derek Mason.

Amazing catch by the UNC receiver just short of the goal line.
Followed up by a TD and stupid two point convert call.

I like the two-point call there.  Let's say the PAT conversion rate is about 95% and the 2-point conversion rate is X.  Let's assume that if you go to OT, you have a 50% of winning (although against a much higher rated team, it could be assumed to be even less).

If you kick, you have a 95% x 50% = 47.5% chance of winning.  With a two-point conversion, you have an X chance of winning.  (This ignores the fact that in cases like this the other team has some time left to win, but that occurs in either case so I don't think it affects the overall calculation).

So if you think your chance of converting the 2-pointer (X) is greater than 47.5%, you should go for it.  I can't find stats for college football, but in the NFL the 2-point success rate is about 60%.

I'm very pro-go for 2 in many in-game situations (and I didn't hate the call), but I prefer to only go for the win under about 45 seconds because Clemson would have had to be aggressive down 22-21, but could have played for OT if they fell behind the chains at 21-21.

Auburn looks incredible tonight.  SEC homer me is trying to argue that the playoff should be only SEC teams this year.

Alabama moves to #1 in the AP poll, too. Clemson at #2, Ohio State jumps over LSU to #4.

This is the 12th straight year that Alabama has been ranked #1 at some point.

Odds on Joe Moorhead returning to Mississippi State in 2020 are rapidly plummeting.

Same with Derek Mason at my alma mater (Vandy).  We just got blown out by UNLV, who was considered to be one of the worst teams in FBS.  We'll be lucky to beat ETSU and go 2-10.  I was a Mason supporter for the first five years, but this year has been beyond inexcusable.

I have never seen a finish to a football game like that way Kansas just won:

Kansas had a potential winning FG blocked in the final seconds of a tie game.  However, while trying to make a return, Texas Tech lateraled with nobody home, and Kansas recovered it with two seconds left.  The kicker got a second chance and made it count.  Kansas pulls the upset, 37-34, giving Les his first Big 12 win.

Even though I'm not participating in the pick 'em this year, I just wanted to stop by and brag to everyone that I got good seats for the UGA/UF game in Jax this weekend.

My prediction:

Georgia 24
Florida 17

Same here! I'll be up in one of the skyboxes.

Call it by its proper name!

(I'm very anti-the political correctness on rivalry names- it's the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party and Texas-Oklahoma is the Red River Shootout, not the Red River Showdown).
