President Donald Trump survives the Russia scandal and wins the 2020 GOP renomination. Minnesota Sen. Al Franken wins a bitter 2020 Democratic presidential nomination. Who wins? Discuss with maps.

If Franken runs a halfway competent campaign and Trump is still bogged down in scandal, Franken easily.

340 Franken
198 Trump
(though OH/NC could go either way even then.)

I think he's more likely to win Iowa before Ohio due to home state proximity and folksiness.

At this point, a ham sandwich defeats Donald Trump.

I think Franken would win. I think the map would look very similar to 2012 except Trump might win  Iowa or Ohio.

I've been comparing him to Rick Scott and fearing that 2020 will be not unlike FL-2014.

Yeah, but the ham sandwich won't make it through the Democratic primaries.

That was the result of nominating a former Republican who switched over to Indy right before and could be labeled as an opportunist.

Methinks ME-2014 is a better example of such a trajectory.

Elizabeth Warren who is seen as an early front runner has been a Republican most of her adult life. She switched parties in 1995 or 1996. I mean I know Charlie Crist was a republican much more recently but still

Ham sandwich wouldn't have the support of the Israel lobby, but the Palestinian backing college liberal crowd would love ham sandwich.

337: Al Franken/Henry Cuellar - 53.2%
201: Donald Trump/Mike Pence - 44.5%

Franken wins the highest percentage of votes since 1988, and the highest number of votes ever.

IA and MN are pretty similar and its a neighboring state, I have a hard time seeing him not carrying it.
