On these terms combined (this should be 1 list, not 3 lists), which of these countries are the best in the world?
-highest living standards for all its citizens, permanent residents, & guests
-highest levels of individual & social freedom for all its citizens, permanent residents, & guests
-acting as a force of good in the world

Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland)
Anglo-based countries (UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland)
Germanic countries (Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Switzerland)

You can select up to 5.

The Nordic ones, voted: Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland.

Also, to be clear: definitely not the Anglo-based countries. All of them are miles behind Nordic and other European countries.

Why is that?

Maybe there aren't that many western European countries that have better living standards left over than the Anglo-based countries, and i might not have a clear idea of how it is to live in those Anglo-based countries, but from what i've heard, it's a lot harder to live as a student in UK or Canada, than where i live in Belgium. There is a lot more private high schools and universities that are very expensive (if i'm not mistaken). It's just that housing, public transport, healthcare and schools are much more affordable here in Belgium, than in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK.

Finland isn't nordic. Finnish is a Uralic language, first of all.

Voted Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Austria and Australia. Nordics are too cold, too dark and too sparsely populated. I would be much happier in Munich or Vienna than in Helsinki or Stockholm.

It's not Scandinavian (and not Germanic) but it's Nordic.

I mean, don't over 6 in 10 Swiss citizens speak a Germanic language?  Not THAT much of a stretch...

It's a pretty big stretch if you're one of the 4 in 10 who don't.

I mean, walk round Geneva and try and speak German, you'll get about as far as you would if you were walking round Chicago and trying to speak German
