Exit poll: Massive defeat for SDS.

Wonderful news. Is this enough for a center-left coalition?

The GS and SD would likely have a majority alone, so yes.

GS is at 42 seats, a majority is reach with 46 seats. But with either SD or Levica, a majority is easily reached.

Levica is improving very slowly as votes are counted. Not sure if they will make it over the threshold. If they fail to reach 4%, maybe GS can win a majority.

Why did turnout increase so much?

I'm not much in tune with Slovenian politics, but from what I've read, Janša has become a toxic and authoritarian figure in the country and a large portion of the electorate just can't stand him anymore. So, many voters maybe decided to cast a ballot in order to oust him for good and concentrated their votes in GS.

That's my take. But, someone with more knowledge in Slovenia could also comment.

Presidential elections were held today. Results so far:

There will be a runoff between Anže Logar, SDS candidate, and Nataša Pirc Musar, supported by the Pirates and former chairwoman of the Red Cross in Slovenia. The candidate supported by the government, Milan Brglez, is polling a distant 3rd place.

The runoff is schedule for 13 November.

Who is favoured to win the 2nd round? I assume the government will get behind the non-SDS person and give her the edge?

Yeah, early polling gives Pirc Musar a slight edge, but we'll have to wait and see what new polls say and how the other candidates will position.

Tbh was slightly surprised because your English is so good overall.

Might not have pointed it out otherwise Smiley

To be honest, maybe when I was writing the word, I was thinking of the Portuguese translation of before, "antes", and, unconsciously, wrote after. And then missed completely the error.
