Millennials are Generation Y. The cutoff year between Generation Y and Z varies. Some sources say 1996, while others say 2000 was the last birth year of the Millennial generation.

The cutoff for Gen Y and Gen Z is generally those who remember 9/11 and remember growing up in the 1990s. Someone born in 99, 98 or 97 isn't going to remember either of these hence why its foolish to set the cutoff to 2000. 1995 is a lot more sound.

yeah I think it is most often said Generation Z starts in 1996, it makes sense tho I was born in 1996 and don't remember 9/11 so if that's the cut off then it makes sense.

Generation X (1982).  By more conventional measures, I am an early millennial.

"Gen Y" and "Millennial" mean the same thing and these classifications are very off.

And if you're in high school, you are not a Millennial.
