Essentially this game takes place during the 2000 presidential election. And the only real differences between this game's timeline and real life are certain events lead to Democratic popularity dropping. Here are the following differences: Recession that originally hits in 2001-2002, happens in 1998; Bomb detonates in Empire State Building, approximately 350 people die, 2,500 injuries; issues this election include Clinton popularity/morality, health care, global warming/climate change, economy.

Al Gore is slightly more popular than Bill Clinton at this point, but overall they are more unpopular now than any other time in office. Also, quick note: You can play as the real life nominees (Bush and Gore) but it's preferred that you don't.

Here are the candidates:

Democrats
Vice President Al Gore of Tennessee- Suburban New Jersey Conservative
Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana
Senator John Edwards of North Carolina
House Minority Whip Nancy Pelosi of California
Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts- JacksonHitchcock
Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut
Governor Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire- HoosierDemocrat
Senator Joe Biden of Delaware

Republicans
Governor George W. Bush of Texas
Senator John McCain of Arizona- UWS
Former Ambassador Alan Keyes of Maryland
Businessman Steve Forbes of New Jersey- NOTTYLER
Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah- terp40hitch
Former Labor Secretary Elizabeth Dole of North Carolina
Former Governor Lamar Alexander of Tennessee
Businessman Herman Cain of Georgia
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Powell of Virginia- GoTfan
Governor Christine Todd Whitman of New Jersey- NyIndy
Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky- Jaguar4life

Reform
Businessman Donald Trump of New York- x-Guy
Commentator Pat Buchanan of Virginia

Tomorrow either myself or Kaiser Dave will post results regarding endorsements, polling, gameplay, etc. Thanks for playing and have a great day. You can post your announcement speech right after you're certified to play as someone, but after that wait till I say we begin gameplay.

Also I'll be using the GOP Primary map for the Reform Primary. Unfortunately Wikipedia doesn't provide how many delegates each state has in the Reform primary. Sorry for the inconvenience

So here are the preliminary rules regarding credits and polling and such. For every 2% in weekly polling in early states and national polling, you get 1 endorsement. If you followed, or played in my Biden game, then you'll know two things about me. 1, I don't go by specific dates within the game, and 2, I move quickly. I'll announce what day each primary/caucus is in either at the end of today or early tomorrow. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to dm me.

Thanks for playing Carthage.

I'd prefer you pick one of the people on the list. If you really want Bunning and not anyone on the list, then you can have him.

And who detonated the bomb attack in the Empire State Building that killed 350 people? Al Qaida, I guess?

Yes, al-Qaeda detonated the bomb.

I'm on a hiking trip and will be back on August 2 and then I will be able to play.

By the way, I would be curious to see primary polling for both parties.

As soon as people announce their candidacies, I'll begin releasing polls.
