Depends on what spectrum we are talking about, if we are talking about the spectrum between 1976-2008 Im a conservative, if we are talking about today Im a moderate

Do you really think being a conservative was that different in 1975 or 2009?  LOL, "party systems" literally switch the affiliations of like 2% of voters in a matter of years...

I identify as conservative but the media has decided that that word means something different than how I understand it.

Paleoconservative or paleolibertarian. Kinda a mix of the two.

I identify as conservative but the media has decided that that word means something different than how I understand it.
Conservatism is no longer an ideology, it is a way of life. The Newt Gingrich/Bill Bennett/Jack Kemp fetishists degenerated it, and Republican is at this point more of an identity than an affiliation. And they wonder where Trump came from....

This meme is as annoying as , and exactly like, the old "parties switched ideologies over time" one: it serves both the interests of Trumpists (or in the parties switched meme, White Southerners who aren't willing to condemn the Confederacy) and liberals (who in both cases wish to cast their opposition as ignorant tribalists).  Sucks for those of us who DO view their Republican/conservative views as part of an ideology.

Except your ideology isn't an ideology. I've never seen you make the moral argument for free markets or individualism, for example. I just hear from people like you trite statements like "the government can't invent the I-phone" or so on. It's the result of Reaganism. It destroyed the soul of the GOP.

Your ideology is a feeling. It is based solely in emotions.

Reagan was considered part of the conservative wing of the GOP in 1976 , in 2010 he would have been part of the moderate wing of the GOP.

Progressive is just a new word for liberal. They should not be separate.

Notice if you combine Liberal, Progressive, and Liberal/Progressive, how much that share of the vote would be.

LOL, there wasn't this magical moment in 1976 where we all agreed to meet in D.C. and reshuffle the partisan coalitions is my point.

Actually Reagan moved the GOP platform to the right that year . Then as president since his policies were popular he was able to move the entire country to the right . I'm not saying Dems were conservative then actually the contrary, the country was more left till Reagan and then Reagan moved it in a more conservative way

All of what you say has grains of truth in it, but if you can't re-read your sentences and see how hilariously simplistic they seem, we can't have this conversation.  History is not simple, you try to cram everything into party systems, sentence summaries and black-and-white "facts."  It just can't all be described that well.
