I urge the Senate to pass this bill. Anyone who opposes this is probably a hypocrite. We all looked at porn when we were under 18. And if you somehow managed to avoid it, then please understand that most teenagers do. Let's not be hypocrites here.

That doesn't make us hypocrites. I drink, I'm 18, and I support a 21 legal age.
Sorry dude but I think that does make you a hypocrit.  You support a restriction on others that you yourself don't subscribe to?

Theoretically, this could be non-hypocritical if he doesn't support following the law. Nonetheless, it's incredibly retarded.

Purchase is different from consumption. I would support a bill that allowed consumption, but not a bill that allows purchasing.

No, that makes you a hypocrite, unless you're reporting yourself to the police every time you drink.

No it doesn't. It simply makes me a lawbreaker.

Just because one is a hypocrite doesn't mean they don't have a valid point.

Anyway, there's no reason to oppose this bill as current laws are unenforceable.

Thank you Senator Hashemite. If it fits the chamber's schedule I hope to testify possibly as early as tomorrow evening, or otherwise by Saturday Sunday.

Corrected for accuracy. Real world took precedence today. Sorry for the delay.

Perhaps the government should fund therapy groups for porn addicts. Maybe even have some designed for minors. Just a thought.

I like that idea; not for minors, though.

I don't want to pay for their problem.

I don't really think such a thing is necessary. Besides, it's not like there aren't support groups out there for that type of thing already, why would they need additional funding?

It also implies that this bill will suddenly create a significantly higher proportion of pornography addicts, which is quite frankly, retarded.

I am in full support, although I do suggest that the bill removes federal restrictions on the issue rather than set an age for the whole country

Jumping through additional hoops to appease the regionalists is a waste of time. If it is a good policy, implement it, don't delay it. I couldn't sleep at night otherwise.

I did not intend to imply that, but if the Senate supports the idea, might as well have them in the same bill.

I have a feeling that this bill will be struck down by the Superior Court if a case is brought against it and the Court relys on the LGBT Dignity Act ruling, as it restricts the rights of parents to raise children in accordance with religious principles and have command over what content their children have access to.

I doubt it, the LGBT Dignity Bill seeked to limit freedom while this bill seeks to expand it

So in your world a 14 year old should be allowed to buy porn, but if its gay porn his parents should be allowed to send him to an institution?

Yes, exactly.  Choices such be left to individuals and families, not the government.  Just because you may find the decision a family makes reprehensible, that does not mean the government can tell them they do not have the right to make that decision

I assume they could petition for emancipation if they truly wished to, and given the circumstance they very well may get it

So in the case of sexuality the choice of the parent overrides that of the child unless the child petitions for emancipation but in the case of pornography the right of the child overides the wishes of the parent?

You are comparing apples to oranges.  Right now it is illegal, no matter what for the child to get porn.  The government is telling them cannot do it.  In this same instance, I would not want the government telling these kids they could not attend a camp to attempt to "cure"
 them from being gay.

One bill expands government power, one decreases it.  It couldn't get more simple

One bill expands parental authority and the other decreases it.
