Heck yeah, John  Brown! Definite Freedom Fighter, and to be honest, since he was trying to FREE THE ENSLAVED, I honestly don't feel comfortable condemning his methods.

Who was the terrorist? The man who fought to free people or the people who enslaved other people? To me, the latter seems more like the terrorist.

If you recognize the use of violence as a means of achieving a political goal, you do not just legitimize your own terrorist activities, but the actions of your opponents as well. If slaves run away, they are seeking their freedom, and are morally right in doing so. If slaves rape and kill their master’s family, burn the plantations, and start a guerilla war, then they should expect to be hunted down and massacred by the planter’s death squads.

I support John Brown’s cause, and I do not view a slave killing his master as part of his escape as murder. That being said, John Brown wanted to completely destroy the plantations and the planters. That is terrorism. If John Brown is acceptable as a “freedom fighter” because we agree that his cause was just, what do we say about the Palestinian children who celebrated 9/11 in the streets of the West Bank?

His tactics are what made John Brown a freedom fighter. Had he not taken action, he'd just be another person ceaselessly debating the issue. Nonviolence was never going to end slavery.
