1. Not enact NAFTA
2. Not half-ass health insurance reform
3. Not half-ass allowing gays to serve openly in the military
4. Actual stimulus package
5. Do something else to turn out Democratic voters

i.e., he'd have to not be Bill Clinton, so there's really no way of preventing it

Yes, clearly the 90s were hungering for a left wing leader.

At least before the 90s, the Democratic Party had many true progressives. (i.e. had a soul that they have only recently began to regain from the damage of the Clinton/Gore years)
