Just what we need, another secessionist as Vice President. We already had Aaron Burr and John Breckenridge.

"The AIP’s main aim is to secede from the United States, becoming either a territory or a sovereign nation. "
Wrong. I'd like'em much better if that were true, but it's basically an expendable part of their program. Basically they're just your typical right-libertarian wackjobs.

Hickel was nominally elected on the AIP ticket in 1990, but really he ran an independent Centrist campaign against a far-right (of the Christian Conservative type) wackjob that had won the Republican primary.

It would help these people if they got their facts straighter.

EDIT: My bad. Totally misread on Sturgulewski (the 1990 Rep candidate). Hickel ran as the only Conservative on the ballot... even though his record from back in the 60s and 70s was pretty moderate.

It's been confirmed that she was an actual member of the party. She left the party shortly before running for mayor.

"Palin has ties to the Alaska Independence party"

My hamster died last week.

She was a member, it just wasn't confirmed yet when I started the thread, so I chose less strong language.

While I feel that the Alaska Independence Party has a first amendment right to exist, they are a bunch of traitors.

Why do you think that they are traitors? I think that states should have the right to secede if the majority of voters living there vote in favor of it.

BTW, I don't like Palin either.

Well, that is the definition of treason. As I said, it is protected by the First amendment, and that's a good thing.
