I still think it's Rubio, but can see Kasich, Christie, Bush, and Cruz doing well too (in decreasing order). Trump would be massacred.

Rubio or Kasich.

Rubio has the better chance of winning the nomination over the long haul tho. Kasich doesn't have much of a ground game anywhere besides NH.

Completely un-ironically, I'm more worried about Trump in the GE than any other Republican candidate.

I guess Trump, with Kasich being a distantish second. Trump is a classic high risk high reward candidate, while Kasich is probably the safest pick.

I'm actually beginning to think that the answer to this question is Christie. Unfortunately, I doubt he has a chance of receiving the nomination.

I'm not kidding you when I say I worry a lot about Trump. Rubio exposed his Achilles heel at the debate on Saturday, Kasich is a non-factor who isn't conservative enough to turn his base out, and Bush's last name negates one of the best arguments against Hillary-- that she's a creature of politics-old.

Besides immigration, Trump, as has been pointed out for weeks, is pretty far towards the center. He's pro-universe healthcare, wants to increase Social Security funding, and increase transportation funding, etc.

I could see his anti-establishment, nostalgia-centered message resonating really well in Michigan/Ohio/Indiana/Pennsylvania. Picking up those states, he'd need only to hold the Romney 2012 states and that would be a win.

I'm not saying it's at all likely, just that I could see that as a plausible scenario.

He's proved time and time again that he's the best politician by far in this race. Consistently underestimated.

It would be unrealistic to not factor in his personality and behavior or just how damaging his immigration/muslim ban proposals are to his image in some places. I don't understand why this problem is so often overlooked.

Rubio, easily.  A right-wing demagogue and closet-case, for sure.  But looks normal next to this bunch to John Q Public.

Could change when the world learns of his 1990 rendezvous with Angel "just hanging out" at the park.

DONALD J. TRUMP. He's the only one I can imagine to win.

Scarily enough, I'm starting to think it's Trump.

Rubio might still have a chance but he's been exposed pretty well.

Christie but he has his own, much worse, investigation problems than Hillary.

Kasich, but he seems to not have the best political instincts.

LOL @ Jeb, Carson, Cruz, Fiorina, Gilmore

Kasich might have some trouble with uniting the Republican base. However, he would be strong running mate to either TRUMP or Rubio.

Honestly, Christie. Looks like I'm in a distinct minority here.

It has to be Kasich, even though I don't think he is likely to last much longer in the primary.

Trump: The ceiling for his support has been exposed. His unfavorables are too high, and a vast majority of independents will find his lack of policy concerning.

Rubio: May come across as the right amount of moderate and conservative, but the fact that he is a robot who has zero accomplishments to hang his hat on make him pretty weak in a tough general election.

Cruz: Just too far right of where the country is. Will have very low independent support.

Jeb: Weak campaigner. If it was an election on the Bush legacy vs. the Clinton legacy, it wouldn't even be close.

Christie: I think would be a very strong, electable candidate. However his Jersey controversies push him slightly below a clean Kasich. Also a bit more polarizing.

Fiorina: Please...

Carson: He would forget to wake up to go vote for himself.

Kasich: A true conservative who can actually get things done. He has a long list of accomplishments; is popular in huge battleground state. Its fine to say he has no chance of winning the nomination, but of all the candidates he would look the best compared to Hillary.

The most electable Republicans (read: not Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, or Marco Rubio) are those the base has no intention of nominating.

So, no worries.

Trump easily. He has the highest ceiling by far, with not that low of a floor imo. Christie at a distant second, but he'll be dropping out by the end of the week. Rubio is basically an outed lightweight and would get thrashed by Clinton at any encounter. Kasich is creepy and uncharismatic. Jeb is Jeb. The others are non-starters in a neutral election.

Rubio if he can pass himself off as a moderate even though he's not, or Kasich if he can keep focus off the positions where he's more extreme, like abortion or regulation. Whichever one gets the nomination would absolutely NEED the other on his ticket. Rubio would be a better headliner because he's younger, but really either will do. If they present a moderate front a lot of independents and some Democrats who dislike Clinton will get on their side.

Kasich probably has the best shot, followed by Rubio, Bush, and Christie in no particular order.

Trump or Cruz polls like Romney, but Kasich or Rubio can win. But, GOP dont want a 1st term Senator, akin to Barack.

Rubio.

Unfortunately, America doesn't really know what it's doing.
