I supported the end of districts wholeheartedly, but I cannot allow the end of regional senate seats to happen.

Why can't you?
It would basically strike a death blow to regions. And it would make the game less fun. If this happens, soon enough regions will cease to exist entirely, and someone here is going to concoct an at-large "Council of Governors" or something. The current system just isn't broken. If we had badly contested elections last time, it has a chance of picking up in the next cycle. For Example, everyone wrote the Southeast off as dead, but then it suddenly got moving again (and tried to secede).
