I've been exposed to a lot of white evangelical conservatism in my day, but I have never encountered that quote used in that way.
Yep, this. Sounds like something that might happen but I've never heard of it.

Conservatives shouldn't be allowed to endorse racial harmony? Would you be happy if a conservative politician came out against this quote?

The problem is that conservatives usually use this quote to talk about how whites and Christians are so oppressed.
I've never heard it used that way, but anyone who does use it that way is obviously garbage.
