It was a win for Pence but not for Trump.    Not going to change the polls much.

Wash. Kaine struggled at the beginning, but Pence crashed at the end, while Kaine shined.

Also Pence provided the likely negative soundbite of the night.

Kaie kept interrupting and repeating the same things over and over again, and Pence couldn't give a straight answer to save his life (or Donald Trump's candidacy). Pence won, though not by enough to matter (like a VP debate would matter anyway).

On anything "not" involving Trump....Pence won.

If Trump was mentioned at all Pence fell apart.

In the end, who cares?   This won't be a game changer.

Pence won on style, but as usual nothing he says means anything. It's all hokey mumbo jumbo.

The debate sucked but Pence won. Kaine looked like he was on speed.

Win for Pence. No one can defend Trump's statements because he's not a politician.

I voted draw.  Pence won on style, Kaine on content, and it won't move the needle noticeably.
Yep. Same. As I said in the discussion thread, if Kaine could have kept himself in control, I think he would have done better.

Pence.

Granted, he didn't do Trump any favors by not defending him. But he looked calm, while Kaine looked agitated.

Good audition for 2020.

I have to say I'm really annoyed climate change wasn't mentioned at all.

Kaine did a better job of attacking Trump than Pence did of attacking Clinton.

Pence was also frothing at the mouth when it came to abortion.  Pretty disturbing stuff.  Otherwise he maintained a very calm demeanor as he attempted to gaslight the American public.

Pence won. Smiley Palin in 08 was better, but Pence had a different role to play.

Pence by far. Wish more people would care about this though. Hey they did Atlas color ties!
Exactly what I was thinking! Pence won, but it won't have much affect.

Pence started off strong but in my mind really humiliated himself with not being able to defend Trump one. single. time. It was almost funny ~ If it weren't so scary.

IMO Kaine won the debate overall; pulling ahead in the second half strongly, just like Madame President!

Kaine answered the questions, Pence did not. Kaine made the case for Trump, Pence didn't make the case for Trump. Kaine won because he did what he needed to do.

I have to say I'm really annoyed climate change wasn't mentioned at all.

When Mike Pence doesn't believe in evolution, it's a given that he doesn't accept mainstream science.  I'm disappointed it wasn't discussed either, but on the bright side, Pence didn't get a platform to repeat and spread complete falsehoods about the subject into the political discourse.  Climate change is a losing issue for the Republicans and the fossil fuel industry.

I think Pence was a pretty clear winner in the first half, but Kaine improved markedly over the course of the debate. On the whole, it was probably a draw, but if you put a gun to my head I would say Pence was the winner.

I agree.  The fact that Mike Pence was unwilling and unable to defend his running mate over and over just proves that he is running for President in 2020.  He knows he will not be elected Vice President this year.

And while Pence won, I would say that he put up a high bar for Trump, in the next debate. He certainly addressed issues such as Putin, Clinton Foundation and foreign policy better than Trump.
