Why are people already thinking that we will have Democratic Minorities in 2010? We will need to lose 11 Senate seats and 40 house seats. We have only 19 held seats. That would mean that even some of our most secure senators would have to be wiped out to lose the Senate. On the other hand, it is theoretically very possible that we could be dropped to a significant minority status in the house. If we lost the seats that Clinton did, we would only have like 204 seats, no more than what we had in 2004. Then again, Clinton's approval ratings were in the 40s by this time and Obama's seem to be in the lower to mid 50s. So was Reagan's. Eventually Reagan would go on to lose 26 seats. I would think that would be a more reasonable loss, provided that Obama's presidency seems to be in better shape than Clinton's....and perhaps is further along in its policy than Clinton's as well at this rate. So, if I had to guess, we are going to give up all of our 2008 gains in the house and we could go anywhere between -3 and +2 with our senate seats. So, unless we are ready to stick a fork in the Democratic Party, don't be using the label "minority leader".

Eh, you could lose the house, but the Senate will almost certainly remain in Democratic control.
