I think Elections Alberta volunteers took "one vote at a time" a little too literally...

There should be an Atlas watch-along of "Bigfoot Family" if the NDP wins.

My understanding is there's only one riding with a meaningful vote count so far, and it's in Edmonton (Edmonton-Ellerslie specifically)

Camrose with a slightly decent chunk of votes too, big swings towards NDP

If it's a big chunk, it's probably advance vote which is likley to favour the NDP. Can't take away anything until a district is fully in.

Still super early, but the UCP is leading in enough seats currently to hold their majority. There's a lot of votes left to tally, though.

Quite frustratingly slow, usually canadian elections are quick and snappy

It looks like CBC is counting 'ties' to the UCP, while CTV is not counting ties.

Yes this is very unusual, I've never seen so many ridings reporting so few votes so late into the night. But the floodgates are bound to open at some point

The CBC is counting ties towards the incumbent party. Rakhi Pancholi/Raj Sherman are tied and CBC is counting it as a NDP lead.

I'd have to imagine it's mostly coming from the Jasper area and/or reserves, with that NDP lead

Dived deep into the Morinville-St. Albert, the 2 advance polls counted are way out in the more rural parts, so gotta wait and see if St. Albert proper has some orange.

Posting like hell now after lurking for over a decade, i wanna see pictures..

CBC is just now thinking the advance votes should be machine counted but they are having to be opened up to manually confirmed.

A huge drop of votes just came in on CBC. UCP is now leading 58%-39%.

The fact that there are two Calgary seats where exactly one vote was counted right now, both of them for the UCP.
three more seats in calgary are now like this, apparently they're special ballots?

They're not exactly special ballots, but Elections Alberta allows voters to vote anywhere from any polling station in the province during advance votes. So every time one of those advance polls dumps (like the Jasper advance poll in West Yellowhead that already reported), it sends a handful of votes out to other ridings.

Like UK-style? Idk, we've always just counted votes poll-by-poll instead of reporting ridings in one go like in the UK, so exit polls aren't as important.

Should not UCP vote share lead be relevant at this stage even if on a riding basis they are not useful?
