I created this poll just for fun, but my question is a serious one: If Donald Trump wins the nomination and loses the presidential election, how will the GOP base - and most importantly: his supporters - react to his landslide loss?

His supporters will be shocked, the GOP base will know they've got to change.

Just another election to give fuel to the "We need a real conservative to win" argument.

And the RNC will probably come up with a better plan to stop another potential Trump.

It would depend on how Trump loses.

If he goes down in a blaze of irreverent glory, they'll blame his personal style and bemoan the wasted opportunity.

If he runs a relatively good campaign and loses a close election, they'll complain about "true conservatism" and pine for Ronald Reagan.

Well, if we're talking about the base... Options 1, 3, and 4.

Like what, open bidding for the right to appoint the nominee among 'approved' billionaires? "Opening bid at two billion dollars goes to the Koch Bros! Do I hear four billion? Do I hear four?"
