I also don't see how anti-Catholic bigotry can exist, I think it's natural to have a very low opinion of a church that considers me and all other Protestants to be heretics.

Al, are you familiar with Bill Pryor? The Republicans made ridiculous claims of anti-Catholicism of the Democrats trying to keep him from his judicial seat when the reason was clearly he was extremist views. This sounds kind of similar to the ridiculous claims, although I suppose it might be different in the UK because of the whole Northern Ireland issue.

I should note that most of what my mom has said about the Catholic Church has contained words that would be censored if posted here so she might not be the best source.

Despite the fact my mom's not really a big feminist, the women priests issue seems to REALLY get to her, among other things.

ask my mom. Once when we passed a Catholic church on a Sunday she told us that inside they were likely being told that women were lesser and inferior.

My biggest problem with the Catholic Church (outside the women priests issue) is the Pope said you can't be a Communist and Catholic.
