Atlasian drug law needs to be settled once and for all. That's why I've introduced this very progressive bill which effectively legalizes all drug use and makes drugs commercially available. I am willing to accept amendments to make the bill more workable.

Amendment is hostile. Sorry Max, but I'm pretty adamant about lowering the overall ages for drugs that teenagers are already doing. We might as well take the criminal element out of purchasing cigarettes, beer, wine, and pot.

What say you all about taxing harder drugs?

35%? I don't know the measurements of everything, so maybe someone else can do something about that, but let's start there.

And I think TNF is talking about stuff that isn't currently legal.

Aye, I am. Is anyone here an expert on measurements of hard drugs?

Amendment is hostile. I believe in the right to smoke in public, be it tobacco or marijuana.

Hostile.

If people can drink in public, they should be allowed to smoke in public, period.

I will switch my vote to Aye. I do not like striking out this part of the text, but it is better than allowing the whole bill to fail and miss out on making important changes to our drug policy.

Whats the situation with the "tbd" towards the bottom?

Well I was hoping we might have someone more knowledgeable about the exact measurements that taxing hard drugs would work in. I might have to look into that myself and get back to you.

If not, I propose a 30% tax Rate on all newly legalized drugs.

I would be fine with that.

If there is a redraft, I hope that these drugs are still kept decriminalized. The drug war needs to end. You guys don't want to fully legalize it, fine. But we should not have government agents invading people's homes to "protect" them from themselves.

Agreed. At the very least decriminalization of hard drugs is something that needs to happen. If nothing is done in the redraft with regard to hard drugs, I will have to ask the Senate to vote it down. I want legalization, but am willing to accept decriminalization; nothing less than that.

I implore the President, if he decides to redraft the bill, to at the very least decriminalize hard drugs. Not moving decisively, be it toward legalization or full decriminalization for this substances, would entirely gut the purpose of this bill.

How does this work? Do I declare the redraft hostile, or do we vote on it as is?

I can't imagine supporting something that basically makes this kind of useless.

I agree.

I'd like a vote then.

I encourage the Senate to reject the President's redraft and present to him the bill as it was.

Why have section 1 subsection 9 and section 2 subsection 7 been scored out?

It doesn't make sense to mandate that certain revenue sources must fund specific programs. If we want more treatment centers and rehabilitation programs for drug addicts, we should debate the appropriate amount of funding on its own terms.

I am completely fine with that alteration. I just want to see something, even if it's just decriminalization, done in the way of hard drug usage.

Nay

Passing this version would make the bill essentially meaningless.
