My brother bought it for me in 2021.

It's a good read – I especially like the analysis of how Trump came to power, and the comparison to other democratic collapses worldwide.

I disagree with the part about his administration not promoting democracy. As a Brazilian nationalist, I know that entails imperialism, which is wrong no matter who does it.

The book should be 1 page that says "with thunderous applause" and then 99 blank pages.

Great read. The political parties in the US today get a bad rep and everyone likes to bring up the George Washington farewell address, but parties serve a very important gatekeeping function. It really makes you question wether the reforms to the presidential primary system after 1968 did more to harm American democracy than promote it.
