Due to pressure from a NPP MP, more woke politics comes to ROC with a sarcastic response but most likely no real electoral impact.  It is 外公外婆正名 (Renaming of Grandmas and Grandpas). In Chinese, the word for grandma and grandpa are different if the grandparents are from the father's side and the mothers' side.  On the father's side, it is 祖父/祖母 and on the mother's side, it is 外公/外婆.  The same is true for uncles and cousins.

After pressure from a very woke NPP MP, the Ministry of Education will refer to all grandparents as 祖父/祖母 and stop using 外公/外婆.  Vass majority of the population including most DPP supporters found this annoying and a sign the government has nothing better to do.  The good news for the DPP is that this will blow over soon and not have the same salience as gay marriage back in 2018 when they got hammered on that issue.

Seems weird to pick the word for paternal grandparent as the new default.

It's pretty clear in this election cycle that TPP is going after the Pan-Blue vote. A lot of TPP candidates are appearing in pro-Blue political discussion shows and joining in their attacks on the DPP.  The KMT should watch out.  While it makes them feel good that TPP is helping them attack the DPP and most likely increasing the anti-DPP vote but it also means the TPP will share in a greater % of the anti-DPP vote.
So TPP is is now making their views on the cross-strait relationship clear?

Latest Ettoday poll for  臺北市(Taipei City)

KMT Chiang      40.2 (+0.6)
DPP Chen         28.8 (+1.8 )
Pro-TPP Huang  20.9 (-2.4)

Some pro-TPP Huang pan-Green voters move back to DPP.  Good news for both KMT and DPP.  DPP Chen's high negatives make KMT Chiang's lead more stable and DPP Chen being solidly in second saves the DPP and DPP Prez Tsai embarrassment of a meltdown here.

If Huang finishes at distant 3rd, would that end Ko's 2024 chances or will Ko run no matter the Taipei mayor election result?

"Taiwan considers extending TikTok ban to private sector"

It seems one DPP post mortems of the election is that they lost the youth vote due to PRC manipulation of ROC youth via TikTok videos.  Action item: ban TikTok across the  board ?  Note there are more than 7 million TikTok users on ROC.  This sounds like mission impossible.

Is there any movement within deep Greens to ban/boycott Tiktok and other PRC products?
