It's not a poor state because it rakes big money off of oil and gas (and probably is the location of 90% of O&G corporate jobs), and yet it has the highest uninsured rate in the country.

Nationalize fossil fuels in a government corporation such that revenues made off them go back to the country they are extracted from, not to fatcat tycoons.

Kind of worth asking if it'd be better for a liberal to live in Austin, or somewhere like Bakersfield, Sussex County, NJ, Carroll County, MD, the Chicago exurbs, the exurban/rural areas around Buffalo and Rochester, etc. I have to admit it's a tough question.

The Catskills are actually quite nice, trust me.
