Mostly centre-left, the idea that nativism automatically makes you far right is very Americentric.
I'm not even "nativist" really, that's only an allergic reaction to Faymann's deliberate and constant alienation of citizens who elected him and his willingness to import 100000s of migrants, creating a huge disconnect between the SPÖ (and also the ÖVP) and the voters and their concerns. Also, the current spinelessness and cluelessness of Faymann and Co. only strenghten the Far-Right, which is counterproductive.
Besides, if it were not for the current crisis - I would be pretty centrist/left with regards to immigration too: I favour skilled immigration for the economy, much like the Canadians do it. But not the current policy of open barn doors for 100.000s of unskilled illegals from all over the world and at the same time sending a signal to the 5 billion impoverished people around the globe that Austria welcomes them with open arms.
After all, we the people, dictate who comes in and who won't and not the out-of-touch political elite (Faymann & Co.) as well as the illegals who think they can swamp us and be entitled to something here. They are not entitled to anything, unless they come in via the legal system, work hard, pay into the system and get citizenship after all. You cannot only have rights as an immigrant, but also
duties. Our fellow left-leftists are often ignoring this (and most other problems that these mass immigration excesses create).
