Honestly, after going on an emo binge for 3 days, it's hard to go back to other music.

Are you trying to desperately BRTD-ify yourself?
I am not even close to that level of forum institution yet.

$600 for sneakers? What's so magic about them?

I have to stay fashionable. I'm not a monster.

Why would you pay that for dirty converse?  lol

They're hand-distressed. The philosophy is not so much about mocking poverty as people think it is but that a) each shoe is unique, and b) they aren't so precious that you're afraid to step in a puddle or get them scuffed.

I got a really nice job offer in Berlin. I've got another job interview (second round) also in Berlin tomorrow with a different company, and sometime this week I'm having another second round interview with the VP of Finance of a tech firm here in Stocky. Still waiting to hear back from a Swedish furniture and design studio as well sometime this week.

This is gonna be a big week for me. Although Germany was originally Goal #1 for many, many years, I'm not sure if I want to take it and move somewhere else where I don't know anyone and start from scratch all over again. I feel that I've really settled down here in Stockholm, gotten a solid grip on the language, understand the work culture and laws, and generally just enjoy the city and country.

Also, I really want a little red summerhouse.

I got a job offer at a fintech startup in Berlin. Good salary, good benefits, good recommendations both inside and outside the company, relocation assistance, and lots of opportunity to move up.

I think I'll take it.

I'm getting tired of getting through 3 or 4 rounds of interviews in Sweden and then being rejected. I've done 27 interviews since mid-January. Furthermore, living costs are far lower in Berlin and I have some money to pay back regarding school. Even if salaries are comparable in Stockholm and Berlin, being able to save at least 500 Euros a month is very important. Finally, my German is still far better than my Swedish, and working at a fintech as a financial accountant would probably command more respect than some of the other job offers in Sweden. Also techno is good, and beer is far cheaper in Germany.

I have five days to make up my mind on this.

Well, my Swedish is better than my non-existent German, but Berlin is among my favorite cities in the world (and within driving distance of Czechia!), so I definitely approve this choice.

Certified Atlas Moment: the school is offering to give me academic credit for drawing congressional districts.

I deserve an MFA in drama.

Every few months, I'll throw some resumes out to get a feel for the market. Just smashed my record for the fastest ever time to get an interview - 20 minutes, and they asked if I could do it tonight. If only it were always so easy!

(it's still rather unlikely I'll take it, I am looking for a biweekly commuting contract, which will probably be impossible to get post-COVID)

Southern Portuguese red wine is fantastic.  Why did nobody tell me this??
I think it might just supplant Spain in my tastes.  Certainly as good as Cali.

Anyway just ordered another crate full.

🍇🍇🍇
Duoro reds from the north are even better, imo.

So we both have Covid. Despite getting a first vaccine. That Delta variant is going to cut through low vax areas of the States like a hot knife through butter.

Get vaccinated. Take precautions. Look after yourself.

Yeah America is going to be up to 1,000 deaths per day again by December, the vast bulk of them unvaccinated.
I'm proud to be unvaccinated.

Wearing an Ole Miss hat around Colorado today, I had literally 15 people say "Hotty Toddy" to me, men and women, young and old. We're the best fans. (Not as good as Nebraska, but up there)
