I don't think it'll ever truly be settled, but eventually both sides will realize their overall goals are not as different as they think, at least if we can ever get the voices of sanity on both sides to actually be heard instead of just the extremists.

Which extremists are these? Those that feel that a woman should have a right to have a partial birth abortion to save her own life?

No. On the left, I'd classify extremists as those who actually feel abortion is a good thing overall, or at least of no emotional consequence whatsoever to the mother. It's really more about attitude than actual positions.
